As in years past, Empire State TAPPI-PIMA will once again sponsor the annual scholarship awards program.  These two prestigious awards which make up the scholarship program, are valued at $2,500 each, and are open to a student whose parent(s) or grandparent(s) has been a dues paying member of TAPPI, Inc. for at least 3 consecutive years, AND is a dues paying member of the Empire State TAPPI-PIMA local section for at least 3 consecutive years.  Eligible students include high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores or juniors.  Students are welcome to apply for these scholarships each year throughout their four years of undergraduate study. The deadline for the 2023 application submission is December 31, 2022.  Recipients of the awards will be notified by the end of February 2023.

This year’s scholarship application will require the following information:

1. Submit the last available tran script or grade report – does not have to be “official”.

2. Choose 2 of the 3 essay topics listed below to respond to.  Please keep answers to no more than two pages.

A. Share an example of how you have used your own critical-thinking skills on a specific subject, project, idea or interest. 

​

B. What are the best words of advice you have received? Who shared them and how have you applied them in your own life? 

​

C. If you could live your life fighting for one cause, what would it be and why? 

​

Awarding of the two scholarships will be based on the substance/body of each essay, transcripts, and completeness of the application.
