2024 Scholarship Winners Announced

Empire State TAPPI-PIMA would like to thank all the participants in the annual Grant and Heidi Cole Scholarship and the William E. Clark Memorial Scholarship Program for 2024.

 

Our winners are well deserved, and should be commended for their efforts and hard work. 

 

The selection criteria for these scholarships include the following:

  • The applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend college in the fall, or is a currently enrolled college student.

  • The applicant must have a parent or grandparent that’s a registered member of National TAPPI, and a dues paying member of Empire State TAPPI-PIMA.

  • Applicants must submit a copy of their most recent transcript, and complete the required essay questions.

 

This year we are pleased to announce that the winners of the two $2,500 scholarships are Madeline Scott and Molly Scott. Please join the entire Executive Board of Empire State TAPPI-PIMA, in congratulating Madeline and Molly for their achievements.  We are proud to award these scholarships to such fine students, and wish them both continued success!

Madeline Scott is the daughter of Gary and Kay Scott from Syracuse, New York. 

Madeline is a sophomore at Syracuse University pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.

 

Madeline is a Leadership and Success Scholar and received the Mechanical Engineering Department’s Kin-Nee Tong Award in 2023. Madeline is a member of Tau Beta Pi and the Vice President of the Mechanical Engineering honor society Pi Tau Sigma.  She recently attended the Pi Tau Sigma national convention located in Ann Arbor, Michigan hosted by the University of Michigan.  She enjoys climbing and caving which she does through the Syracuse University Outing club.  In between her busy schedules, she enjoys thrifting, sewing, watching movies with friends, and studying with her sister Molly who also attends Syracuse University

 

Madeline’s father, Gary Scott, is Professor and Director of Engineering at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse and her mother, Kay Scott, is the School Nurse at Nottingham High School in the Syracuse City School District. Madeline has two older sisters: Megan, who graduated from Binghamton University in May 2022 with a degree in Psychology and Molly who is attending Syracuse University studying Nutrition Science and Biochemistry.

Molly is the daughter of Gary and Kay Scott from Syracuse, New York. Molly is a junior on a pre-med track at Syracuse University, pursuing a dual major in Nutrition Science and Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry.

 

Molly was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship and was on the Dean’s List for the Fall and Spring semester of 2021, 2022, and 2023. During the academic year, Molly is an academic tutor for student athletes at Syracuse University’s Stevenson Athletic Center for Academic Support, and a tutor for the Center of Learning and Student Success. In addition to keeping up with coursework and studying for the MCAT, Molly also works as a Patient Care Technician at St. Joseph Health Hospital.  She enjoys running, cooking, singing, and reading in her leisure. 

 

Molly’s father, Gary Scott, is Professor and Director of Engineering at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse. Her mother, Kay Scott, is a Registered Nurse at Nottingham High School in the Syracuse City School District. Molly enjoys spending time on campus with her sister, Madeline Scott, who also attends Syracuse University.
